GB –  Newton tube – This instrument, conceived at the end of the 1600s by the English physicist Isaac Newton, is used to demonstrate that in the void all bodies, even if different from each other, take the same time to fall from the same height, that is they fall with identical speed. It consists of a glass tube, containing different objects (a feather, a lead shot, etc.), equipped with a perfectly sealed tap. By extracting the air from the tube by means of a pump, it is shown that the acceleration of gravity is the same for all bodies that are located on the same point on the earth.
